About Me
I am trying to be a little greener, one step at a time.
First and foremost, I am a Mum with a beautiful, bright and willful two-year-old daughter, gorgeous but grumpy stressed out hubby, neurotic allergy-ridden rescue dog and two cute but essentially evil cats.
Just turned 36, having a bit of an epiphany. Folded my business (well, the credit crunch did it for me) and started on a new, more fulfilling endeavour, bought a lovely ramshackle old house with a big garden, juggling time and money and priorities like everyone else, geez: I think I finally grew up.
Facing up to responsibilities
Being greener doesn’t mean I’m giving up my car or wearing scratchy hemp knickers. I’m just making small changes, one by one, over time, to lessen my impact on the environment. Some will be easier than others, I’m going for the easy ones first!
I’ve got an increasingly uncomfortable feeling about how I live and the price that certain people and the planet as a whole are paying for it. Let alone the environmental legacy I’m leaving for my daughter and her children and grandchildren. So I’m starting to do something about it.
Rather than going at it gung-ho, completely disrupting my family and routine (routine?) and setting myself up to fail, I am taking it a step at a time. Something is better than nothing. Small changes all add up.
A gentle revolution
This website is where I am recording my ‘warts and all’ journey for fun, for posterity, to amuse my family and friends, and perhaps to inspire others to join me on my little quest. I plan to practice before I preach and I intend to have rather a lot of fun doing it.
Feel the same and fancy getting in touch? I’d love to hear from you.
