Shades of Green Living
To quote the Wikaniko ideology, there are three shades of ‘green’:
Deep green
This is giving up all home comforts and really going ‘back to basics’. Deep green is about living a life based purely on need rather than want. Albeit this is how to achieve a truly sustainable lifestyle, for me and many others, this kind of lifestyle isn’t sustainable at the moment. Perhaps one day, our actions will lead to such irreversible damage to our planet that we will end up with all choice removed and this will be the only option available to us.
I hope that by enough people choosing to commit to making small changes, we can avoid a situation where there is no choice left.
Light green
This is the colour of the ‘bandwagon’ that appears whenever dumbed-down versions of major issues are raised simply to create the sort of sensationalism that helps sell more papers, create more news, etc. Companies and individuals often exploit this to make a fast buck for themselves.
Light green can sometimes be worse than not green at all.
Mid green
That’s us. That’s the Wikaniko colour.
We try to personally do our bit to help the planet. We use our own products as they are greener than the alternatives and we spread the word to encourage others to do the same.
Make no mistake: Wikaniko is a business and makes a profit. But it’s one of the greenest and most eco friendly businesses out there. Not everything that we do is totally green. But we try our best at all times to be greener.
Our products and services are as green as they can possibly be or help you in some other more environmentally friendly way. Becoming greener is a major step towards making the world a better place.
Sounds good to me.
